Did you find the use of Multimedia helpful?

I will say yes becuase theories like,Behaviourism and Cognitivism were explaind very well and by watching the videos make me understand each theory well unlike just reading. Behaviourism claim that learning is not taking place in the mind, learning is caused by environmental stimuli and they used different videos to explain positive and negative reinforcement,shaping of behavior,and programmed instruction. Cognitivism theory is totally against Behaviourism, as it is more concern about the mind. With Cognitivism learning takes place in the mind as it is the mind that links stimuli and response. The two theories are very interesting as each and every one supports its argument, and as a teacher you have to choose the one which suits you best. And for you to be able to choose you must have specific outcomes and objectives for your lessons.

Reflection of the first part of the course.

So far I will say all components of the course are important as we learn different things from each. The reading from Angelo (1999) helped me to develop new skills by using the hot potato tool to formulate multiple choice questions that gives you immediate feedback and saves time(automated assessment).The Social Presence session was also very interesting and also an eye opener to teachers that you don't only need to be in class to share ideas and informationwith your learners.

Plagiarism and the Internet

Plagiarism refers to presenting or submitting one's work as your own without citation or credits(University of Northern British Columbia,1997,p.1) Plagirism is a very serious offence which most students are not aware off,sometimes students do it intentionally or unintentionally.Students sometimes borrow their friends' work and submit it as their own.They also copy and paste information from the website without acknowledging the source. With safe assign all this can be prevented as students can run their work through it before submitting. Safe assign helps students to know the percent of their plagiarism and they can avoid it.I prefere my assignment being run through safe assign software package to make sure that the work that I'm submitting and the ideas that i have used are acknowledged and proper citation is used in referencing.

Studying and working

Both needs equal attention, for you to be effective and efficient you must know how to manage your time very well .Most of the time is the family that suffer, as I no longer spend quality time with them. They no longer eat decent meal as I spent more time doing my school work. The agreement is to make up for the lost time with them, unlike my studies which you fail if you don't do the work. As a woman you have to multi task in order to survive in life.
So I will say is not easy but I don't have a choice,I have to progress so that I can reach certain destination.

Social Presence in Online Classrooms

I think this is a very good side for students to collaborate and engage in a Social Online Presence. Students are given the opportunity to understand each others'sdiferences and work as a group, and each and every student sharing the same responsibility. Studenst are encouraged to reveal their areas of personal interests to bond with others in the class with the same interest.Online Social Presence is a very good platform for learning if it is well designed to accommodate everybody. Students can learn and interact at the same time,they are comfortable to share what ever they can think of sharing even if is not from the same group. The teacher can give learners a project,whereby they can set time to be on chatroom and discuss the project. I realy enjoy this session as you can be anywhere aslong as you have neccesary  resourses for social presence.Students feel very comfortable with Social Presence in Online Classroom as sometimes they become so bored to listern to the teacher in class.Looking at the three student that started their conversation about food before getting into the real task,which shows that they did share the same interets of cornbread.(David Lester,East Bay,2005)

Automated Assessment

Automated Assessment are very good for formative assessment becausse the teacher and the students get feedback immediately and get a chance to improve before summative asssessment. The teacher can choose from diffferent options of formulating excersice using different kind of questions. It can be multiple choice question,it can be matching the correct answers,it can be filling the right answer,etc. So as a teacher you can choose the software packeg which is best to usein your class. There are software packeges like Hot Potatoes and Moodle which can help you improve your teaching and save your time especially if you are having big classess. I was also impressed by the online MQC test that was given to us,which allow you certain time to start and complete your task and immediately getting feed back.

Finding and evaluating Internet

Accessing the course in the online environment can be very interesting and challenging at the same time. You need to have the skill and knowledge of the online environment. Like for example if you are given tasks that you have to do on a weekly basis and you don't have the skills you won't be able to access them. It is very interesting if access online resources and evaluate a number of them to see which one can be used in your teaching and learning. As a teacher you have to do research first before introducing them in your class,as they can have significant teaching and learning challenges.
